SEFI ZISLING

SEFI ZISLING

Trumpeter/Composer Sefi Zisling incorporates afro-jazz with psychedelic funk in his new solo project – The Sefi Zisling Quartet.

Sefi Zisling is best known as the top trumpeter of Tel Aviv's jazz & funk scene. Sefi Zisling’s story with music began at the age of ten, when he was first exposed to jazz and funk music from one of his older brothers who lived in New York at that time.  He became mesmerized by the sounds of musicians such as John Coltrane, Blue Mitchell, Grant Green, Fred Wesley and Booker T. & the M.G.’s, who later all took their place as Sefi’s childhood heroes. This fascination with jazz and funk music led him to start learning the trumpet. As Sefi grew a little older, he decided to leave his family home at a small Kibbutz in the north of Israel to attend the prestigious Thelma-Yellin High School of Arts located in Tel Aviv.

During his high school years, he began performing with various funk and groove acts such as, Funk’n’stein and Tomer Yosef (Balkan Beat Box) and throughout the past 15 years Sefi Zisling has performed with several renowned acts such as The Ramirez Brothers, Kutiman Orchestra, Gili Yalo, and many more.
